{"id":65599,"date":"2020-02-10T12:00:13","date_gmt":"2020-02-10T12:00:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/casel.dev\/?p=65599"},"modified":"2023-03-22T14:35:55","modified_gmt":"2023-03-22T19:35:55","slug":"casel-aasa-collaborate-to-support-district-leadership-with-social-and-emotional-learning","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/casel.org\/casel-aasa-collaborate-to-support-district-leadership-with-social-and-emotional-learning\/","title":{"rendered":"CASEL, AASA Collaborate to Support District Leadership with Social and Emotional Learning"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Alexandria, Va. \u2013\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aasa.org\/home\/\">AASA, The School Superintendents Association<\/a>, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/casel.org\/\">Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL)<\/a> are releasing a new resource, the <em><a href=\"https:\/\/casel.s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com\/CASEL-PR-District-SEL-Toolkit.pdf\">Districtwide SEL Essentials for Superintendents<\/a><\/em>\u00a0to support top district leadership in their role in shaping a school district\u2019s SEL vision and aligning district organizational structures to sustain high-quality SEL implementation.<\/p>\n<p>Today\u2019s announcement comes just prior to the AASA\u2019s 2020 <a href=\"https:\/\/nce.aasa.org\/\">National Conference on Education<\/a>, where hundreds of superintendents are convening in San Diego, Calif. to discuss the most critical issues in public education and how these issues impact the more than 50 million students learning and growing in our public schools.<\/p>\n<p>The toolkit contains resources and guidance curated from <a href=\"https:\/\/drc.casel.org\/\">CASEL\u2019s District Resource Center<\/a> that is accessed by thousands worldwide and aligns with CASEL\u2019s comprehensive framework for systemic implementation of SEL, based on research and the learnings from CASEL\u2019s Collaborating Districts Initiative (CDI).<\/p>\n<p>AASA and CASEL are collaborating to leverage the expertise, networks and resources from both organizations to advance SEL and bolster safe, inclusive and positive learning environments for all students. AASA serves as the nation\u2019s premier organization for school system leadership while CASEL is the expert in quality, evidence-based social and emotional learning (SEL).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe AASA family is proud to collaborate with CASEL\u2014an organization laying the groundwork for social and emotional learning, research, policy and practice on behalf of public education and the communities our school systems are serving,\u201d said Daniel A.
